Menomonie Theater Guild aspires to create a vibrant, diverse, and welcoming theatrical community based on respect and collaboration. Our goal is to create inclusive and accessible theater for all, as we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the benefits of live theater.
In December 1958, a group of citizens concerned with the preservation of the Mabel Tainter Theater came together and created the Menomonie Theater Guild. To date, the Guild is the oldest existing community theater organization in Western Wisconsin, fostering culture within our region.

The Mabel Tainter was listed as one of CNN’s Most Spectacular Theaters in the World (one of only four in the U.S.!) and was listed in the Top 14 Most Beautiful Theaters in America by MSN Travel.
The Menomonie Theater Guild remains dedicated to bringing together actors, directors, musicians, dancers, costumers, makeup artists, lighting and sound designers, set builders, properties managers, stage managers, and a score of other creative minds to create theatrical magic in our community.
The Guild has offered a rich variety of Main Stage productions; dramas, comedies, musicals and straight plays which have been lighting up the beautiful Mabel Tainter stage for over 60 years!
The Menomonie Theater Guild is fortunate to maintain its own home just a few blocks from the Mabel Tainter Theater in charming Downtown Menomonie, Wisconsin. Auditions, rehearsals, board meetings, set building, and summer camp productions all occur in our studio. A vast collection of props and costumes are housed in the second floor with a full set building workshop in the basement. In addition to our black box theater performance space, there is a dance studio, sewing room, music rehearsal room, and offices.
Get Involved with the Menomonie Theater Guild! We have lots of opportunities for volunteers. Don’t want to be on stage? That’s okay! We always need help behind the scenes with costumes, set building and painting, stage managing, ushering, and more!
MTG is operated by a volunteer Board of Directors. For information about becoming a board member, please email us at menomonietheaterguild@gmail.com.
