The Menomonie Theater Guild invites you to their production of “The Secret Garden” musical, to be performed at the historic Mabel Tainter Center for the Arts.
This enchanting classic of children’s literature is reimagined in brilliant musical style by composer Lucy Simon and Marsha Norman, the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright. Orphaned in India, young Mary Lennox returns to Yorkshire to live with her widowed, reclusive uncle Archibald and his invalid son Colin. The estate’s many wonders include a magical secret garden which beckons the children with haunting melodies and the “Dreamers,” spirits from Mary’s past who, along with the good-natured housemaid, Martha, and Martha’s kind-hearted brother, Dickon, guide Mary to her new life and Colin to health. Filled with glorious music, “The Secret Garden” is a moving, beautiful tale of the power of love and nature to bring forgiveness and renewal.
